KeyWack unquestionably wins the prize for having the youngest target audience of any program available on the Mac: children under the age of one. Just put a keyboard underneath one of those uncontrollably flailing arms and watch the fun as multicolored faces and geometrical shapes appear on the screen, accompanied by a wide range of randomly played digitized sounds. As you might guess, there are no pull-down menus, no help balloons, no dialog boxes, no controls to speak of: just give the keyboard a good ol' whack, and you're off!
But don't be fooled: this is a \stealth\ program. While it seems to be frivolous, it actually touches upon knowledge of how youths learn through action and reaction, and may give very young children a focus otherwise difficult to find. Note that KeyWack can have a strange effect on adults: while I was preparing to review it, a fellow ZD Net/Mac staffer became intrigued and started hitting the keyboard over and over. \I just want to see if there's a pattern,\ she said.
Version 2.1 eliminates problems caused by the power key in System 7.5.x and fixes problems with missing icon and sounds.
